From Hull photo studio to software studio

For years I’ve been a commercial photographer in Hull. And for most of them, every job ended the same way: photos uploaded to a gallery, video uploaded to Google Drive, and an email to the client with two links and a short paragraph explaining which was which.

You know how annoying this process is. It doesn’t take ages, but at the end of a big edit it’s just not what you need.

Then six months later they’d ring looking for a photo from that shoot. They’d lost the email, lost all the links, and I’d have to wait until I was back in the studio to use the web-only gallery software to send them a new one.

Too much software

The software wasn’t just bad. There was also a lot of it. One for galleries, another for big video files, a calendar, an address book, an invoice. And me, typing the same client’s details into each of them.

Alongside the studio, I’m a software engineer. You can see where this is going.

I built exactly what I needed

So I started building it: one app where the whole job lives. Video and photo sit together. Proofs go out watermarked, clients tap the ones they like, and you swap in the finals. Nothing expires, because why would it.
